About The Role

We are currently seeking dedicated, experienced, and compassionate Health & Social Care staff for the role of Advanced Support Worker in the East end of Glasgow (Mount Vernon).

This will be an exciting opportunity to provide personalised care and support to a young man with an acquired brain injury.  You will be privileged to help this person realise his potential and journey towards rebuilding his life, utilising specialist knowledge and experience. You will work in close partnership with a dynamic neuropsychology focused multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality care and support

Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive induction and bespoke training in acquired brain injury, neurobehavioral rehabilitation, risk assessment and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering person-centred care using an evidence-based approach. You will have access to support and reflective practice sessions with a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with expertise in Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation.  

Putting the preferences of this young gentleman at the heart of everything you do, you will support him at a ratio of 2:1 support with all aspects of daily living, including intimate care tasks. You will also provide social and emotional support, help with daily living tasks, and promote and support him to regain his independence so that he can become more active and reach his goals and aspirations.

About You

Experience of working in a similar environment and must have a passion and keen interest in supporting people who may, at times, communicate in a way that can be challenging

Applicants must have experience supporting individuals who have Complex Mental Health needs and an Acquired Brain Injury

As an individual, you will have an upbeat positive manner as well as having a genuine passion for supporting people to become a part of their local and wider community.

You will bring creative ideas and compassion to encourage this young gentleman to live as independently as possible.  You will be required to take part in physio sessions with him and attend the gym.

In addition, you will be comfortable using basic IT systems that are required within the role - training can be offered to support in this area. You will also hold a SVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (Scotland) or Level 4 Diploma in Care (England) or be willing to work towards this within an agreed timescale.

This young man requires 24/7 support,, you must be flexible in your approach to work with an ability to carry out a varied shift pattern which will include sleepover shifts.

All applicants must have a full, clean, UK driving license and be able to drive a manual vehicle.
